NZSO

Last week on Thursday the Senior Syndicate went to go watch the NZSO (New Zealand Symphony Orchestra) perform at the town hall.

We went in a bus to get there, when we got there, there were a lot of schools there it was like a Tsunami of kids. then we went inside it was Magnificat it looked like they were waiting for the Queen to walk in.

Then we got taken up the stairs by one of the staff members. There was a red carpet on the stairs then we sat down and waited for them to start, I was in the front row.

As we waited they came out in groups and started tuning their instruments. then the host and the conductor came out and the show began. It was the story of Peter and the Wolf and each instrument/group of instruments play a character.

Peter was played by the Strings, The Bird was played by the Flute, The Duck was played by the Oboe, The Cat was played by the Clarinet, Granddad was played by the bassoon, The Wolf was played by the French Horns and the Hunters were played by the Timpani/Drums.

I really enjoyed the performance because it was a different experience.
